Your first puzzle set, step by step
Try three puzzles. Open the free demo to try the board before signing up. Create an account to save your sets and history.
Choose a manageable set. The automatic starter uses 100 puzzles and five cycles. For a custom set, choose 20–500 puzzles, a rating range, target cycles, and an optional theme such as forks or pins. Lichess puzzle ratings are separate from playing ratings.
Complete your first cycle. Calculate the full line before moving. A cycle covers every puzzle in the set once; it can span several sessions. Peck records your solving time and accuracy.
Review wrong and skipped puzzles. Use the review queue to revisit missed positions. Look for the idea you overlooked, then calculate the solution again.
Repeat and compare. Start the next cycle with the same positions. Compare accuracy alongside total time in your progress charts. If you are guessing faster, slow down and review before increasing difficulty.
Choose your next focus
Use a repeatable training routine, practise fork puzzles, or build a mating-pattern set. The FAQ covers account requirements, puzzle sources, and realistic expectations.
